MSYPs apply to new Youth Fund
Written by Ross Hutton:
On Monday 9th October, Jack and Ross went to the Mitchell Street Learning centre to present our application to the Dundee Youth Fund. The Dundee Youth Fund is aproject that offers £25,000 to young people and the Dundee MSYPs thought this was a great opportunity to receive funding for us to fulfill our roles as MSYPs.
Our application was successful and we will now receive the financial backing to go to SYP sittings (when the Scottish Youth Parliament meets three times a year), go on outreach in Dundee to meet young people and consult with them on issues that affect them as well as provide opportunities & events for young people in Dundee.
(We aim to be champions for young peoples rights; Women’s rights, LGBT rights, people with mental health issues and the rights of people with disabilities: for all young people, work on improving Education in Dundee, from better relationships with our local representatives for change, advocate for youth work, try to make transport more affordable for young people, end period poverty in Dundee, help to provide more opportunities for young people and ultimately make sure the voices of Dundee’s young people are heard both locally and nationally.
So, watch this space!!
